What's for lunch?

Restaurants & Cafes

Currie, Grassy and Naracoopa all offer a choice of dining opportunities with menus stuffed full of the best local produce. The King Island community is very small and sometimes our hard working chefs, baristas and wait staff like to head to the beach too so you’ll need to pay close attention to what establishment is open at any particular time. Perhaps Steve is char-grilling his local octopus in Grassy or maybe Heidi is filleting some fresh fish for the table in Naracoopa. While you’re here don’t forget to try one of Currie’s friendly cafes for a chat, a snack and a browse through the local paper.

Organic vegetables, pure drinking water, fresh sea food, succulent grass fed beef…hungry yet?

All supermarkets endeavor to sell local produce when in season but you may need to try speciality providers for some products such as a variety of local sea food and organic vegetables.

Picnic Spots

As nice as it is to sit in one of King Island’s local eating houses, sometimes the food tastes even better outside. Order a speciality hamper from Foodworks or a roll from the bakery and head off in search of the perfect place for alfresco dining. Some of the best spots on King Island have coin operated barbeques and you’ll also find a number of conveniently located benches. Alternatively you can take your own chair, flop on the beach or lie back in the long green grass while you chew away on the best King Island has to offer.
