Frogshack Farm Walks King Island1049 Grassy Rd, King Island, TAS 7256, Australia
Hours: Flexible farmers' hours. Advance booking essential, prefer 48 hours notice
Frogshack Farm is a fusion of farm, forest and fruity trees, beef, botany, birds and bees, wetlands, wild things and garlic galore...and a house growing from stone and straw!
On a Frogshack Farm Walk visitors will enjoy a delightful and insightful walk, guided by Carmen as she tells how she and her family has transformed this part of the farm. Allow 2 hours for a relaxed wander around the property to discover the delights of the season and how the different elements of the farm interact to create a healthy and functional landscape. Carmen is always happy to tailor your visit to suit your particular areas of interest.
Carmen and James have created a permaculturally designed oasis to enhance their traditional family beef farm.
Carmen has strong Bass Strait island connections and arrived on this rock 25 years ago from Tassie. James is a fourth generation King Islander producing top quality grass-fed beef.
Together they have been growing this eco-pocket on their farm for over 20 years - rewilding a cattle paddock with hundreds of indigenous King Island forest species into a hub of bounty, beauty and diversity.
Visitors interested in alternative building methods will enjoy Carmen & James' stone and strawbale home currently under construction.
Guided farm walks are available at 2pm on Monday and Friday.
Group bookings are welcome, times are flexible.
Garlic is a specialty at Frogshack Farm. You can see different varieties growing in October and November. Sales are available from late December through summer at the farmgate when the roadside garlic sign is out. Call in and choose from the day's offerings. (Honesty box cash).
Refund available ONLY with 24 hours advance notice.
